Colorado Craft Beer Show Brewcast August 4th 2012

The Gubna and Daniel Ekker from Argonaut Wine & Liquor hosted this week. Special in studio guests were Garret Frase from the Tasty Weasel in Longmont and Justin Lloyd from downtown Denver’s Star Bar.

In hour one we discussed the GABF ticket fiasco as well as other brew news. Todd Thibault form Breckenridge Brewery jumped on from the Big Denver Barbecue Block Party. He also went over all the other festivals in the state this weekend. Turk also called in from Seal Beach California. He spent a lot of his vacation sampling what California has to offer in beer! We also talked about September 29th’s Fall Beer Classic.

In Hour two we talked to Justin about the Star Bar and some events he has coming up. We also rapped with Garret who runs the Tasty Weasel who just underwent an expansion and has been named the hottest place to be on a Saturday Night by Rolling Stone Magazine.

Back to our home away from home at Arvada Beer Company!

In Hour 1 we chatted with Cary Floyd about their new Belgian Strong and about the 9 beers they will be submitting for medals at GABF. We also talked to Tebo from Breckenridge Brewery who joined us live from Kyle’s Brew Fest at Boulder Beer.

In hour 2 Dave Butler from Fermentedly Challenged  joined us as he brought in some nice brews for us to sample as well including the Crabtree Menage a Trios Braggot. He talked about new breweries coming and in planning for Colorado. Cary Floyd also sat in with Dave and the boys.  Also this hour we broke some news about the Fall Beer Classic. This is on Saturday September 29th downtown. Breweries will bring in their fall seasonal, harvest, or fresh hopped brews where a “best” fall beer will be announced and awarded. Live music and a skins game for charity as well. Nicol Winkler and Adam Lenfest who have been the organizers of this event joined us on tha air for details. We also talked to Greg Brill and Keniey Sonley from Parry’s Pizzeria who were holding a Dogfish Head Special Pouring and are planning a benefit for Alex Sullivan’s family on Thursday August 9th. We closed out the show wih Bristol Brewing’s David Boone who had several events and new brews to talk about.

Colorado Craft Beer Show Brewcast 6-30-2012 Arvada Beer Company

A great crowd showed up at Arvada Beer Company this week! Todd Thibault from Breckenridge Brewery co hosted while the Gubna was in Alabama launching Oskar Blues!

 

In hour one, we led off talking about some fire relief aid that Breckenridge is involved in. We then were joined by Kelly and Cary Floyd to talk all things Arvada Beer Company and sampled most of their 12 beers they are pouring. We then rapped with David Parry and Keniey Sonley from Parry’s Pizzeria & Bar in Highlands Ranch, Castle Rock and Parker. Parry’s boasts 50 taps in Highlands Ranch and will soon sport 40 handles in Castle Rock. As always a ton of brew news you can use mixed in.

In hour two we led off talking about July 7th’s Breckenridge Brewery 22nd Anniversary Bash. The Gubna also joined us live from Alabama as Oskar Blues launched back in Dale and Chris’ home state. We then talked more about what breweries around the state are doing to raise money for fire victims and firefighters. Tim Remple joined us to talk about the Left Hand Brewing Company fundraiser they held with Dark Star Orchestra. He also talked about the Rist Canyon Fire Department‘s needs. Jessica Skoken from the 12 Volt also jumped on to talk about their silent auction. Daniel Michaelson from Deep Cover Band jumped on to talk about the Hops for Habitat event at the Plains Conservation Center n Aurora coming up on July 20th. We then were joined by the Arvada Beer Company all female GABF pro am winner in their homebrew competition. Jolie Mann won the competition with her Scottish Ale and now will brew a large batch with Arvada Beer Company and they will enter it into the home brew competition at the Great American Beer Fest. Then, Brock Coffman jumped on to talk about Baker St. Pretzels which you can find at several breweries around the state.
