Colorado Craft Beer Show Brewcast 4-20-2013

In Hour One we led off with Mobile Canning‘s Brew News You Can Use! We then were joined by Falling Rock employees Paul Vismara and Bryan Jansing who are working on a book project that will be a history and guide to the Italian craft beer scene. They took a trip there in late January and brought some beers back which we shared and discussed the vibrant and evolving movement. They will be going back to Italy again here in a few months to do some more research. They aso need your help and have launched a Kickstarter program to raise some funds to write the book. Check their blog and get involved in their Kickstarted program HERE. We also jumped on the line with Tebo from Breckenridge Brewery who was at Southwest Arbor Fest in Grand Junction. He talked about some new beer release dates and about their Caped Brewsader beer made in conjunction with the folks from Comic Con. We also threw out several of our sponsors’ events and brew news.

In Hour Two we chatted with Jason Conger and Calvin Cook from 53 Peaks Brewing. They have been brewing together for several years and are planning on a brewery in Conifer. 53 Peaks cranked up a Kickstarter campaign in an effort to raise $20,000 to get the brewery going. Get involved HERE. They make some interesting brews including a Cherrywood Porter which we tried in studio. We also talked to Marty about a beer the Wynkoop is brewing for the Cheeky Monk. Marty also hit on some new brews they plan to start canning. We also talked to Becky Creighton from Culinary Connectors. She does some brewery tours and has a big event called Toques and Tails coming up in March. More events and news from our great sponsors as well!

A very jam packed in studio show!

In Hour One we talked with Juan Padro of Highland Tap & Burger and Justin Brunson from Masterpiece Deli. They are pairing up to open the Old Major at 3316 Tejon St. in Denver. They will specialize in Seafood, Swine, Wine and Craft Beer!

We then talked with Craig Rothgery from Denver’s newest brewery De Steeg Brewing. He’s located at 4342 Tennyson St. in Denver in the alley by the Oriental Theater. He has three beers on tap now and soon to add an additional 5 more. Craig likes his high-gravity brews! His grand opening was on February 1st. This neighborhood really popping off now with a ton of great tap rooms, breweries and restaurants.

We also talked to Tim Myers from Strange Brewing and Chef Mike Long from Chef N Brew. They have a huge Fat Tuesday Dinner going on at Strange at 13th and Zuni on Tuesday February 12th. Check the menu and details for tickets HERE. Tim also summarized the Save Our Strange legal benefit festival at Rackhouse Pub as well.

In Hour Two we led off with Todd Thibault from Breckenridge Brewery who gave us all the details on their new farmhouse brewery to open in late 2014 or early 2015 in Littleton off of Santa Fe Drive.

Read all the details HERE as well! We are pretty excited for our friends at Breck to start moving dirt on this monster! We then talked to David Parry from Parry’s Pizzeria & Bar. On Saturday April 27th they will conduct One Big Ass Tap Takeover at three of their locations. Avery Brewing will be taking over 90 taps total and Guinness Book of World Records will be on hand as well.

We closed out the hour talking with Becky Creighton from Culinary Connectors. Her food, wine and beer show follows us every Saturday at 2 pm.
