Big Ass Tap Takeover

Colorado Craft Beer Show Brewcast: 4-27-2013 Parry’s Pizza Big Ass Avery Tap Takeover

Want to give a big shout out to David Parry, Keniey Sonley, and the entire Parry’s crew for making us a part of this event. 6 months of planning and marketing for this unbelievable tap takeover and we can’t wait for the next one!

Elizabeth Kagan from Firestone Walker was Turk’s co host for the show this week as we broadcasted live from Parry’s Pizzeria & Bar in Highlands Ranch for their 3 location Big Ass Tap Takeover. Avery Brewing provided 31 beers at each location. We spent the whole first hour talking  with David Parry and Adam Avery. This was our first chance to have Adam on our show!

In Hour Two we opened up with our Beer Despondent Michael Nelson who joined us from the Greenwood Village Parry’s. Next, Breckenridge Brewery‘s Todd Thibault jumped on with us live from Highlands Ranch and then we did Mobile Canning‘s Brew News You Can Use. Around the bottom of the hour we were joined by beer bloggers Dave Butler from Fermentedly Challenged and Mark Robinson from Brewtally Insane. We talked about Avery brews, what they are covering and about some new breweries. Also this hour, Parry’s Director of Beer Flow Melanie Whitcomb jumped on to give us a scene set from the Parry’s in Castle Rock.

Also check out the Fermentedly Challenged piece Dave put together HERE and we thank him for the photos he took

Big Thanks to Laura Vande Zande from Renegade Brewing Company for filling in with Turk on this show! She did an amazing job!

In Hour One we led off Mobile Canning‘s with Brew News You Can Use! We then were joined by Craig Rothgery of De Steeg Brewing and John Frazee of Gravity Brewing. They talked about their respective breweries and about a collaboration they did together! De Steeg was going to name their brewery High Gravity but after a friendly phone call they just decided an new name was in order and they collaborated on a very good 10% + ABV Belgian IPA! We also jumped on with Tebo from Breckenridge Brewery to talk more about the Comic Con Beer and some of their upcoming events!

In Hour Two we led off with Bryan Selders who is the former head brewer at Dogfish Head and was recently named head brewer at The Post Brewing Company which will open in Lafayette this November. Bryan was also the co host with Sam Calagione of Brew Masters which made a short run on Discovery Channel. He talked about the jump from DFH to graphics design and then back into brewing as well as some brews he likes to experiment with. Colorado is very lucky to have this guy moving here to brew his stuff! We then talked with Melanie Whitcomb and Keniey Sonley from Parry’s Pizzeria & Bar. They recently opened their 4th location at Holly and Orchard in the DTC! They now boast 144 taps! We also talked about April 27th’s Big Ass Tap Takeover which will run at 3 locations (CR,HR,DTC) with 30 Avery taps at each! All the details are in this hour. We will be broadcasting from the Highlands Ranch location from 12-2 but get there early as Adam Avery will be doing a little toast with us around 11:30 am.
